Candy From Far Away

Recently the Spouse returned from Asia, and brought us candy. The flavors are decidedly Asian (litchee, darjeeling, etc.) and the package design is good to look at. I had to use my macro setting to photograph each one.

Notice: "Popular Leisure Food."

This last one had the most interesting flavor. I've read about Durian fruit but never seen it; I know it smells awful but tastes fine. I grabbed a pen before I popped it in my mouth so I could write my flavor impressions. Sure enough, the initial hit was icky and uncannily familiar. "Gas station bathroom," I wrote. Then came "coconut," followed by "pineapple," then "all-day-meeting scalloped potatoes and ham." Almost a full meal in a half-inch candy.
