Spouse Turns Forty

The Spouse may not be thrilled that I posted this photo of him. I had to, though, because at his birthday celebration, nobody took a picture of the birthday boy. Everyone else was so busy with party prep that the Spouse took the only photos there are.

So, here's how the Spouse's birthday party went:

The Spouse woke up early that morning and tried to calm down his wife. Then he made two trips to the meeting room for tables and chairs, and set them up in the carport. By then, Miss Beth had arrived from Kirkland, and he washed and vacuumed her car! The rest of the day was spent tidying the garage and yard because 45 visitors were coming.

The Spouse's parents (who drove all the way from Michigan - bless them) arrived with a carload of fruit, chips, and dip from Costco. Then the in-laws came, with 35 pounds of pork ribs (homemade tangy sauce), bread, and three cakes (coconut, 3-layer German chocolate, and a Bundt).

The wife put final touches on her Chocolate Stout Cake and Cappuccino Fudge Cheesecake, and kept ordering everyone around. Miss Beth even vacuumed the house. Then guests arrived, bearing lots of great salads and sides, and everyone ate and ate and talked and laughed for several hours.

As the last guests left, the Spouse and Dave B. (thank you, Dave) hauled all tables and chairs back to the meeting room and set them up so we could have meeting next morning. Then the Spouse came home, collapsed into bed, and fell asleep giving his wife a shoulder rub.

Happy Birthday, Honey! I LOVE YOU. I've never seen anyone work so hard on their own birthday.
