California girls

When my grandparents, the Taylors, both died in 2010, they left shelves full of photo albums in Mom and Dad's house.  Last year Mom started leafing through them, and invited her siblings to take whatever pictures they wanted.  When the Taylor Tots (as they call themselves) finished dividing them, they offered us grandkids whatever was left.

I had a wonderful time looking at the pictures.  One theme that kept recurring was fashion, especially in the pictures from the mid-1960's to early seventies.  During those years (and there's no mistaking the clothing and hairstyles of that era), my mom and her two sisters were at the age when girls spend a lot of their extra cash on clothing.

And, of course, they were California girls.  In my world (correct me if I'm wrong) that means they were ahead of the sartorial curve.

Before we look at the Taylor girls, though, I'll show you a couple photos of their stylish mother:

Here are a few of my Auntie J, Mom's middle sister.  I'm going to call these photos "The Siren in the Laundromat."  My uncle, her brand-new husband, owned the laundry where these pictures were taken.

Here is mom's youngest sister, who was a teenager when her older siblings married:

"I look stuck-up!" said my aunt, when I showed her this photo.  I think she was just squinting in the sun.

This photo of my parents is one of my favorites.  I stopped counting all the elements of classic sixties/seventies fashion going on here.  What a good-looking pair.  (Of course, they still are.)
