A recent post by my cousin unleashed in me a torrent of creative thought. If you don't feel like clicking the link, it shows the ultrasound of her baby boy. The post also includes the comment that we don't get to learn the name.
That's fair! However it does make some of us scratch our chins and think, "hmmm...if I had another kid to name, which name would I choose! Heyyy, Bartholemew is a good one. I'm a genius." I mean, in this day and age when it's OK to ask pregnant women personal questions in the grocery check-out line, it's only natural that we all volunteer our baby-name brainstorms.
So what do you think? Should we offer the happy parents a pile of unsolicited advice? There are so many creative ways to name kids. For instance, lately I've been noticing kids named after places (Arizona), foods (Huckleberry, Kale), cars (Chevy), animals (Buck).
Following is my list of name suggestions. Keep in mind that I chose them for the melodious way they sounded with Adkins:
Buzz
Horton
Chaz
Leif
Laird (chosen, obviously, for the baby's inherited sport of choice)
Rope (the Spouse's pick)
Keep the names coming. I'm sure the expectant parents will do backflips in their gratitude.
